Wow!

It has been a crazy week!

We made it to Florida late last Tuesday night, and I had to be at NBC at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Made for a short night of sleep!

But we are here!

Andy got her job at Sun as well... but she isn't fond of the long commute. That's a whole other post of its own...

So much to say in such a short time.


I have learned so much at Waterman in the last seven days...

The internet posting job is exciting! I was watching from the web production desk when NBC photographer Jeff Woods got the exclusive video of accused murderer Timothy Tuttle being apprehended.


I have never been a part of something like that before, and it probably won't happen again for a very long time...


I only wish I was out on the live shot, searching for him!

Southwest Florida isn't anything like Idaho.

Check out the view from our front door. The royal palms on McGregor Blvd are the reason Fort Myers is called "the City of Palms."

The "doll house" is what the landlord's call our place. It isn't the biggest house on the block. In fact, it very well might be one of the smallest.

A quaint 2-bedroom/2 bathroom brick home with tile floors throughout, and a tiled walk-in shower in the master bath. Really, exactly what we were looking for.

We are settling into the neighborhood. The only thing missing is a fence around the yard for Maya. But, the truth is, it's so hot out, she doesn't want to be outside for long anyway... She usually does her business and is anxious to get back in the house and under the A/C!!!

We experienced our first tropical storm on Friday. TS Bonnie never really made it to Hurricane status. The only thing we got in our area was a day of clouds and light rain. The eye passed over the southern tip of the state and the Keys, but never really threatened to get worse than a tropical storm. They predict we will get far worse in a storm on Sunday, with winds in the 30s and 40s. (I think the wind blew across the southern Idaho desert with more force than that!)

Everyone here asks why we moved from Idaho, all the way down to southern Florida. But really, it's easy to see once you've been here. The tropical weather is absolutely gorgeous. We aren't in the sun all that much. The beaches are amazing! The people are genuinely nice! And traffic really isn't all that bad...at least until winter, we hear, when all the "snowbirds" migrate south.

Florida really is beautiful! In fact, check out the view Andy sees on her way to work every day!

This is actually Midpoint Bridge, and she takes the Calloosahatchee Bridge, across the Calloosahatchee River inlet, on her way to Port Charlotte. But it is the same waterway, with a nearly identical sweeping bridge.

We found this great sign down McGregor from our house and made our way down there tonight after stopping at the grocery store. It pretty much sums it up in three words!
