Day 2 Update

Tried to post last night, and the computer ran out of juice.

Day two of our five- or six-day moving trip from Twin Falls to Fort Myers was fairly exciting. We made it from Rawlins, Wyoming, to Lincoln, Nebraska, without much trouble. The U-haul is holding up amazingly well.

Our first stop of the day was in Cheyenne, Wyoming's capital, and the visitor's center. Andy found out some interesting facts, including the construction of Eisenhower's Interstate highway system from Washington, DC, to San Francisco and that Wyoming is home to fifty percent of the nation's antelope population. (I didn't know that!)

We continued our journey into Nebraska, where we were greeted by a sign welcoming us to the Cornhusker State on one side and a giant statue of Jesus Christ on the other. Our first stop in corn country landed us at the Cabela's World HQ in Sidney, Nebraska. We spent over an hour wandering the store, finding a number of treasures that we will eventually like to buy, but settling on a few priceless treasures, like a new GPS for our new community (which Andy got great use of during that second leg!)

We took a slight detour, stopping in Grand Island for a steak dinner, which I'm pretty sure Andy is regretting this morning.. =( We continued our day (in the dark, unfortunately) the rest of the way to Lincoln, Nebraska's capital city, to spend the night. We checked in at one hotel, only to check out moments later, and re-check in at the place next door... Let's just say the accommodations at the Quality Inn weren't that "quality." But the hospitality was quite hospitable at the Sleep Inn, where we, in fact, did sleep in. Big ups to Bob and the staff for keeping a great place!

The big news of the day yesterday came from Jake and Rita in Fort Myers... The Keltners are welcoming us to the community in a huge way, allowing us to live up to our original lease, after signing, backing out... then getting jobs so that we could make the move, and then moving. (A big enough story in its own right, enough for a TV movie, maybe, but at least it's own blog page...someday.) Thanks Rita and Jake for your care and understanding!!! We can't wait to move in to the little house on McGregor! We'll post pics when we get there!

Well, take care! We are back on the road momentarily, for the next leg! Hopefully we make it to St Louis, Missouri, tonight! Through Kansas City, and the home of my mom's roots! Can't wait to get pictures of the Arch in SL...
